| Like our other favorite coastal destination, Juan les Pins, Villefranche was another ideal city to call home when touring the French Riviera. Where Juan les Pins allows easy access to Cannes and Antibes, Villefranche offers the same for Nice and Monaco. Narrow streets, a quite harbor, cobblestone walkways that meander along the seaside, Villefranche is the picture of small-town Mediterranean. In fact, it is a place where you can’t help but feel relaxed. Our pace seemed to be measured by the lapping of the waves against the rocks below our hotel. |

| The greatest attribute about Villefranche (besides its laid-back environment) is that everything is within walking distance, even the sleepy little train station. And while we had a car to tour the coast, you don’t want to drive in Monaco or Nice. Its traffic rivals Los Angeles busiest freeways without the six lanes. |
