| One of our favorite provincial villages is Uzes. A sleepy tree-lined village (except on market days) with narrow streets and traffic-free walkways, we visited Uzes a couple of times to enjoy the various sights. If you don’t feel much like touring France’s oldest dukedom, or wandering the ancient streets, you can spend hours relaxing under the trees of the “Jardin Medieval” or hiking stone-carved trails along the River Gard. |

| Our friends Philippe and Alina invited us to an afternoon garden party (without the garden) at a friend’s house situated on one of the main streets in Uzes. We enjoyed an entertaining afternoon drinking wine and eating tapas (the host actually made guacamole—yesssss!) and mingling with the overwhelming number of English speaking guests. |
