| There must be thousands of temples or properly termed, Wats that exist in Thailand, let alone Chiang Mai. So many in fact, we would have had to visit at least three everyday to seen even a fraction of them. So after almost two weeks of seeing everything but the Wats in Chiang Mai, we decided it was time to uncover the religious beauty of Thailand and better understand the Buddhist traditions that we have come to love. Rich with history and awe-inspiring for the mere fact that these relics date back further than 1000 B.E. (Before Enlightenment), our eyes seemed to do the talking for us each time we entered a new temple. |

| Most of the Wats in Thailand are working temples that are run by local Thai monks. Each day you can witness their daily rituals of caring for the Wats, collecting alms and speaking English with the tourists. Thai students also flank the Wats in hopes of speaking English with the tourists. Both Fletch and I were approached by University students for "interviews" where they ask you numerous questions in English while audio taping you so they can replay their answers back later to better learn how to speak English. |
