Of course we had to visit St. Tropez. How can one say that they have been to the French Riviera and NOT visit St. Tropez? Famed as the playground for the rich and famous, we decided that a half-day visit would be sufficient since our entire monthly budget would probably be spent on food and drinks alone.
We found that there isn’t much to do in St. Tropez (if a day at the beach isn’t on your agenda) except park yourself at one of the many seaside cafes and make a sport out of people watching. This was the main reason for our visit, in addition to ogling the oversized yachts spilling out of the harbor.

While we didn’t spot any stars (if there were French stars we wouldn’t have known it anyway), we did spy plenty of “jet-setters” as described in our guidebooks. Overdressed women teetering on stilettos walking their mini-mutts, brightly-colored lipsticks flashing stunningly-white smiles, and bronzed bodies in convertible sports cars, we lapped it up and pretended we were part of it all.
Surprisingly, or maybe not so surprising since it was May, there were very few tourists, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
