The region of Provence is everything Peter Mayle (author of A Year in Provence) said it would be. From the open-air markets and the quaint medieval villages to the sprawling vineyards and comedic town folk, its charm is hypnotic and we can see why so many people have relocated here.

Provence’s temperate weather found us spending most of our days outdoors either lounging by the pool, picnicking in a hilltop town, shopping at a local market or laughing with friends over an afternoon glass of wine at an outdoor café.
Considered home to some of the art world’s most famous artists like Van Gogh, Cezanne and Picasso, its picturesque countryside has served as the subject for showcasing intense colors and dreamy scenery. In fact, we found ourselves “ohhing” and “ahhing” whenever we left the house.
Many of Provence’s cities and towns date back to Roman times and offer some of the best views of ancient living. We tried to visit most of them but with so many choices, two months was not enough. Of course we found time for wine tasting, it is after all home to the Cote du Rhone and Chateauneuf de Pape.
