Another one of those must-see sights in Italy, Pompeii is probably one of the world’s best representations of ancient living. Like our guidebook suggested, we allocated an entire day to walk the ruins. Again, we were extremely lucky that we brought our hiking shoes since the streets are even more difficult to navigate than that of Rome.
We opted to take the self-guided audio tour rather than the guided walking tour since we wanted to move at our own pace. Not only were we provided with specific facts about the particular sights and buildings; we also had the option of learning more about city living, philosophy, government structures, campaigning, etc. While we looked like people talking on the phone, we were impressed by the depth of information that was available at the push of a button. |
