| After a little more than a week stopover in the United States (planned as a quick respite from our Asian adventure before heading to Europe) to visit family, friends and take advantage of the Tahoe skiing (thanks mom!), we planned a week stopover in Paris before we hit our final destination, Italy. I had spent a year working for a French company a few years back and most of my trips to Paris kept me in the office rather than visiting the tourist sights. Our visit to Paris this time was exclusively designed to see all of the sights that I had always hoped to see but never had a chance. We booked ourselves into a quaint hotel in the area of St. Germain and started our tour from there. It didn't take us long to locate the metro, ask for tickets (my six years of French was finally paying off) and head to our first destination, the Louvre. |

| We were fairly warned that the Louvre could be overwhelming and take days to see, so we opted to take the "overview" tour and let our eyes be our guide without any specific itinerary in mind. Of course we didn't make it through the entire museum, but we knew our travels would bring us back sometime in the upcoming months. |

| With jetlag driving the schedule of most of our days while in Paris, we were able to see not only the Louvre, but the Eiffel Tower, Musee d'Orsay, Versailles, Ave des Champs Elysees and window-shop many of the incredible stores in Paris. We also had a chance to indulge in our favorite street food; "jambon, fromage et beurre baguettes (ham, cheese and butter sandwiches) and "crepes avec Nutella" (crepes with chocolate sauce). We were even fortunate to experience Paris snow. |
