If you love the impressionists, post-impressionists and art nouveau, there isn't a better museum to visit than the Musee d'Orsay. Not only is it home to some of the world's most famous art pieces, it is probably the most well put together museum that we have ever visted. While most guide books prepared us for spending days at the Louvre, we felt more overwhelmed by the d'Orsay and ended up spending more time there. Starting with the incredible sculptures on the ground floor and working our way up to Fletch's favorite, the impressionist paintings, we actually had to leave the museum at one point to rest at a nearby restaurant. It was at the restaurant that we learned of lurking pickpockets casing the museum (a few had actually entered the restaurant hoping to overtake unsuspecting visitors). We thanked our host for the vital information and headed back to the museum to resume our day-long tour. |
