| Since the drive from Beaune to Spain was longer than our daily driving limit of 8 hours, we found ourselves overnighting in a small French village called Caunes-Minervois. What we didn't know was that it would be a town where we would enjoy one of our best French meals. |

| Our hotel happened to house the town's renowned restaurant, so after gorging ourselves on Caunes' homemade delicacies and playing into the "French paradox" by drinking more than one bottle of wine, all we had to manage was a walk up one fight of stairs. We definitely made pigs of ourselves. While many would visit Caunes for the meal alone, it was a quaint little town in the heart of French countryside. Our hotel was storybook medieval that even included resident pigeons nesting in the ancient stairwell. Beware though, the birds will pay you a personal visit in your room if you happen to leave the window open. Heather experienced this first-hand. |
