We planned a day trip to Granada to see the Alhambra (a sight not to be missed). It is an incredible example of Moorish architecture and philosophy. Even before we entered the gates, we were met by lush gardens and the sound of trickling water. In fact, the sound of water follows you through every area of the Alhambra. We are guessing that the sound of water played an important role for the Moors since inconspicuous canals line every walkway, courtyard and garden within the Alhambra. It's quite spectacular.

Most impressive though is the detailed carvings that decorate almost every building wall. It is hard to comprehend how such fine woodwork was completed without the convenience of today's technologies.
Our drive from Marbella had us tired before we even arrived so by the time we hit our fourth hour we had reached saturation (or maybe it was low blood sugar) so plan accordingly. There is a lot to see!
